A guide to Instagrammable Cafes in Kochi

Kochi has evolved extremely in the last 3-4 years when it comes to cafes. A lot of interesting, contemporary and artistic cafes have started popping up all around. I have accumalated some of my favoties and made a guide to the most Instagrammable Cafes in Kochi (which serves delicious food too!)

All of them serve basic vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, but most of them do also serve vegan food! And this made me happy and proud.

Here is a list of the cafes which I visited and the ones that I wish I could have visited. Keep in mind that most of them shut by 9-10pm – make sure you finish your dinner plans by then.

Some of the Instagrammable Cafes in Kochi are:

The Drawing Room

The Drawing Room is opposite St Francis Church and it looks extremely gorgeous. Unfortunately, I could not have any meals here because I had just had my brunch.

In case, you plan breakfast or lunch here, you can go for a boat ride too after your meals. The boat ride is at the end of a lane right beside The Drawing Room.

Pepper House Café

I had a chance to visit this cafe which is almost 2km (~ INR 80) from Zostel.

As soon as I entered the cafe, I was blown away by its size and architecture. It was so raw and historic with greenery all around!

Pepper House Cafe hosted Kochi Muziris Biennale (an art exhibition, and festival that is the largest of its kind in South Asia) in 2019. Biennale Foundation is a non-profit charitable trust engaged in promoting art & culture and educational activities in India.

My newly made friends from Zostel and I saw a lot of books and movie collection, which only this place has and are numbered in the entire world! We also ran through the history of Muziris Biennale in detail with the help of these books.

Although, a lot of options from the menu were not available, the opetions were numbered.

I ended up having Parfait along with a hot chocolate while the dishes that my fellow travelers ordered were mouth watering and tasted damn delicious!

Teapot Café

This place is extremely beautiful. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to indulge in gobbling food but the options on the menu did look delicious.

  • Indian and European.

Classic Art Café

This cafe is situated very close to the Jewish Synagogue and is a delight for art and food lovers. I really really wish I had some space in my stomach to eat something here. The cafe is inside an art gallery and the tables are set around murals, paintings, and statues.

  • 6/93 Jew Town Road | Adjacent to Mattancherry Boat Jetty, Jew Town, Kochi (Cochin) 682002, India. Google Maps here.

Kashi Art Café

Kashi Art Cafe is a perfect hide-out for modern art and photography fanatics. I visited this quirky and beautiful cafe because they have a lot of books on art and photography that you can read.

I had a vegetarian burger here. Needless to say, they have an amazing chef! All the options on the menu were available.

The only con here was flies attacking your food!

OY’S

I have read a lot of blogs and positive reviews about Oy’s and seen a lot of its mind-boggling interior photos. I wish I could have visited this place.

Ginger House

We bumped into Ginger House while wandering around the Jew Town.

This place has alluring artifacts and raw architecture which is very unique. It is one of the very beautiful restaurants that I have seen.

We weren’t hungry when we were around this place so left after indulging in food. The cherry on the cake is it offering a see face view while you enjoy your meals!

Loafer’s Corner

One of the last cafe in the list of Instagrammable Cafes in Kochi, is Loafer’s Cafe.

I visited this cafe for dinner to have sprouts salad with a slice of bread. It is undoubtedly by far the best salad I’ve ever eaten with a huge sweet slice of bread.

  • Princess Street, Kochi (Cochin) 682001. Google maps here
  • Vegetarian, Non-vegetarian and vegan.

.

Street Side Food

There are a lot of options around Fort Kochi for an experience of raw, authentic Kerala street side food.

You can go at restaurants near Kochi Fishing Nets and ask them to cook you meals from freshly caught sea animals! There are a lot of options to choose from- fishes, prawns, lobsters, etc. (obviously depending on that day’s availability of catch).

My best friend ordered a less spicy fish which was delicious but yet damn spicy! When she asked the chef to cook another one to be less spicy, he cooked a bland fish.
Just instruct the chef how would you like your dish prepared specifically beforehand.

.

I really could not rank any cafe in terms of its ambiance because all of them were equally beautiful and all of them topped the list of Instagrammable Cafes in Kochi.

I hope this blog helps in finalizing your meal places here. Let me know in the comments where did you go and what did you have there! Bon Appetit!
