Getting over your preconceived notions while trave Getting over your preconceived notions while traveling // ✨

Upon reaching Bir, I saw a few shops whose boards read "Fruit Wines" and I thought it wouldn't be anything interesting.

Enter: a friend I made in @thebunkerhostel , @skydiverharshad ! We got talking and he offered me Rhododendron Wine.

It took my brain a few seconds (read:minutes) to comprehend what Rho-do-WHAT wine?! 🤯

I was completely baffled and requested him to teach me the pronunciation after asking him what a Rhododendron is!

So turns out it is Nepal's national flower and it grows extensively in some parts of the North and North East India. It naturally has some alcoholic properties making it a perfect flower for an alcoholic drink.

These shops had Peach Wine, Cherry Wine, Apple Wine, and what not!? 😍

I unfortunately could taste only the Rhododendron Wine and hoping to sip others on my next trip.

And another unfortunate event was me not get permission to take these bottles back home 😔

So next time I see something where my mind says that it's meh, I'm going to go against it 😁

📍Cycling in Bir amongst the Deodars and Pines! 📍Cycling in Bir amongst the Deodars and Pines!

I learnt how to cycle only in 2017 and cycling on the mountains took me (and my lungs😂) for a surprise!

I wasn't ready for the slopes but this only has made me want to stronger and go back to the mountains to cycle again !

✨✨

You can rent out cycles just 300-500 meters before the landing site at an extremely nominal rates!

People at @thebunkerhostel will help you plan out an entire route of 9km and back from a forest area!

Have you cycled on the mountains? How was it for you? ✨
Walking amongst the Deodar trees was one of the be Walking amongst the Deodar trees was one of the best things happened to me during my time in #dharamkot ❤️

However, I was really upset to see only TWO freaking patches of abundant trees on my 2km walk from Dharamkot to #MacLeodganj.
Concrete jungles (read:human explosion) have taken up all the space on the mountains which is horrifying!

Well, idk what can be done about this but we can atleast try to be responsible travelers while exploring, right?!

On a lighter note, happy Valentine's to my love - nature & travel ❤️
Nymphadora Tonks walking out of a traditional Hima Nymphadora Tonks walking out of a traditional Himachali house in #Dharamkot called @kitchen.rain which is going to steal your heart indefinitely!

Because having a delicious meal in a traditional house's verandah with a backdrop of mountains (which has trees on it instead of ever hounding buildings) with furry paws running around is always a win-win for me!

Nidhi, who runs this place gels with you as a long lost friend! She is trying hard to fight with the owner of this place to not to demolish it to make it a pukka Ghar!

I'm really hoping she convinces him to do the same.

Have you also seen these trends overall? I'm really worried about locals all over the country trying to catch upto the city lifestyle inturn ruining our original roots and ambience.

Here's to us praying that our traditions/culture/ambience/languages remaining intact or atleast alive ✨🙏

ગોળ ધાના ft. साखरपुडा

(a.k.a roka)
(5/5) // He quickly got in the auto and shifted hi (5/5) // He quickly got in the auto and shifted his headlight's light from the road towards a stone below the tree on our left, he replied in his broken Hindi, "Arre madam, ye pathar humara devta hai".

The stone had tilaks and garland all around it. We took a sigh of relief but were still frightened with our thoughts. Sensing our fear, Manjunath revved the engine and we headed towards Patadakkal.

Upon reaching Pataddakal in the next 15 minutes, we saw only a chai stall open and halted there. The three of us meanwhile spoke about the lives in Mumbai and Badami with our chattering teeth and shivering hands holding a cup of hot tea. We realized that Manjunath is really a gem of a person and we were unnecessarily worried!

The monuments' gate opened after another 30 minutes and we entered another time-travel machine at exactly 6 am.

Our entry was graced by a diffused saffron that ascended into the luminous azure sky. The disk of the sun rose over the group of stone monuments and trees, fluctuating with the dancing light. The monuments held themselves out for the sunbeams to touch it. All this glory filled me with a furnace-like vehemence of prayer.

All the silence and peace around in the monuments' maze was an experience only to be felt. While I prayed to touch the unutterable existence infinitely higher than a deity and thanked the universe for keeping me safe

Manjunath got out of the auto and started walking towards the fields. We squinted our eyes to see where he is heading but failed which our minds replayed all the Crime Patrol memories.

We jerked our heads in every position to figure out where we were and whether anyone was around - of course, no one was. This gave us a sigh of relief but also started getting our hearts thudding with a tonne of various unfortunate thoughts.

Divya and I started whispering about the speculations in our head about what was going on. Regretting not carrying chili powder or any equipment for our safety, we gathered some strength to ask him why did we halt since he was clearly not repairing his auto.

"Manjunathji, kya hua?" our hearts were fluttering with fear and we wondered if he could hear us over the loud noise of our heartbeats. The crouching position and the cold had made us not see anything but the road where the auto's headlight glistened.

He sprinted towards us while we prepared us to charged ourselves to attack him and then run away in another direction to nowhere!
